For more information about the documents that IDNYC requires for applicants and Caretakers, refer to our Document Calculator. Applicants must also present their own identity document(s) worth at least two points, at least one of which includes their date of birth (such as a birth certificate). Applicants ages 10 through 13 must apply with a Caretaker who will be required to present their own proof of identity worth 3 points, and proof of residency if the applicant lives with them. New Yorkers age 10 and up are eligible to apply for IDNYC, regardless of their immigration status. Additionally, your IDNYC can be used as a city-wide library card. New Yorkers ages 10 through 13 can now take advantage of IDNYC benefits like free one-year memberships at many cultural institutions, plus discounts on movies, amusement parks, and other entertainment options. The minimum age to apply for an IDNYC card has been lowered to 10 years old.
